About Katie Forrest
Geology student in my final year with a passion for renewable energy and geological engineering solutions. I have developed many skills over my time at university, many of which during field trips in the UK and Spain; skills such as geological mapping, report writing and communication. In 2018 I was chosen to join a 4 week long university trip to Uganda to assess faults and the rocks of the East African Rift for aquifer potential. During the trip we made a week long trek up to in the Rwenzori mountains to assess active faults and travelled along the East African Rift in a collaboration with students from the University of Kampala. Additionally, we visited local communities to learn more about the short term and long term effects of Cobalt and salt mining in the area which increased my passion for sustainability in future generations.
