About Katie Glover

My professional goal is to continue working collaboratively with research groups to improve large environmental issues through social science and large group facilitation methodologies. I am prepared to continue this work through my past professional experience:* As Assistant Director for the Institute for Alternative Dispute Resolution in Northern California I worked with large federal agencies to complete long term organizational strategic planning, local initiatives to begin environmental campaigns and diverse agency collaboratives to increase public communication. While in this position I managed staff the office, transcribed notes, facilitated meetings and individual interviews as we as prepared grant applications and company documentation * Working as the social science researcher for Port Orford Ocean Research Team I began and wrapped up several projects the NOAA award winning non-profir was collaborating with Oregon Sea Grant. Project topics included: community profile, climate change and local public relations. While in this position I acted as a social science "expert" for the community's Redfish Rocks initiative that was organized byt Oregon Fish and Wildlife. I was also able to organize and facilitate a regional ecosystem-based managment program which brought 60 different organizations together to discuss diverse projects going on in the same space with a "land-sea" connection.* Assisted HSU professors in teaching Classical Sociological Theory(two semesters), Contemporary Social Theory, Social Ecology, and Watershed, Politics and Community. Collaboratively taught graduate level Conflict Resolution course as I finish my thesis. My role as a teaching assistant is to aid students in understanding conceptual materials and ideas pertaining to the specific course. To do this I edit written assignments, assist in preparing and presenting lectures, assist in choosing reading assignments and provide alternative resources.
