About Katie Gray

Drawing on over a decade of litigation experience in both the federal government and private sector, Katie represents clients in state and federal courts across the country, before international arbitral institutions, and in investigations. She has first-chair experience with all phases of litigation, including drafting and arguing procedural and dispositive motions, serving and responding to discovery, taking and defending depositions, and representing clients in hearings, trials, mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations. In addition to her trial court experience, Katie has briefed and presented oral arguments in complex appeals before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fourth, Fifth, and D.C. Circuits, resulting in published opinions favorable to her client in each. Prior to joining Mayer Brown LLP in Houston, Texas, Katie was a trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.("Main Justice"), where she litigated significant civil and criminal cases on behalf of the United States in jurisdictions across the country, including in over 40 trial and appellate courts. Earlier in her career, Katie clerked for U.S. District Court Judge Andrew Hanen in the Southern District of Texas. Before returning to her hometown of Houston, Katie had the pleasure of living in diverse places around the world, including Boston, DC, Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains, rural villages in Cambodia, Austin, and on the border of Texas and Mexico.
