About Katie Grieve

I am currently a third year zoology student at the University of Glasgow, hoping to launch myself into zoology and marine biology conservation research as soon as I graduate. I have always been fascinated by the outdoors and the natural world. You are far more likely to find me up a hill than in a city or shop (unless it's selling sports gear). Having been brought up in an extremely active family, most core memories from my childhood involve being outside, embracing nature and all that it offers. In addition to university, I have spent time conducting mini research projects in Edinburgh zoo as well as being a member of the University of Glasgow's Exploration Society Egypt expedition 2023 and leader of the Thailand expedition 2024. This has allowed me to improve my leadership skills, management/organisational skills, conflict resolution, and responsibility. I am a qualified PADI rescue diver and been trained in scientific research diving and surveying. I obtained these skills in Scotland and have since dived in the Red Sea and Thailand, doing project work and data collection. I am a very active person, partaking and competing in multiple sports including running, hiking, mountain biking, swimming, waterpolo and triathlon. I am the current secretary for the University Triathlon club in which I facilitate and organise training sessions, and communicate with club members, committee members and sponsors. I am looking forward to connecting with professionals, researchers, and other students who are interested in anything Zoology. This could be looking at the most recent problems or advances in the industry or joining a research project! I'm excited to meet people with similar interests and gain more knowledge in Zoology as a whole.
