About Katie James

I bring over 12 years of experience in international program management, capacity building, and monitoring and evaluation, with a strong track record in both sustainable tourism and international development. My career has spanned roles as a Project Manager at an international development consultancy, a Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Consultant for an environmental NGO, and a Program Coordinator focused on forestry and resource use at a leading think tank. For the past eight years at the Travel Foundation, I have worked on a wide range of sustainability challenges within the tourism sector. My work has focused on advancing climate action, enhancing community resilience, promoting resource efficiency, supporting sustainable procurement, and protecting natural environments. Over the last three years, I have led the development of training programs, workshops, and practical tools designed to help tourism stakeholders—particularly DMOs and small tourism enterprises—build resilience and respond to the climate crisis. This work has involved hands-on coaching and mentoring to support the integration of sustainability and climate strategies into long-term planning.
