About Katie Lam

I have had clinical experiences at different health systems all over San Diego. During my clinical rotations, I learned to juggle my duties for several patients while also implementing the nursing process to provide excellent care to my patients. Additionally, I utilized critical thinking, time management and organizational skills while balancing my patient load. In addition to my clinical experiences, I also did a nursing externship at the UC San Diego Health System. I carried out a quality improvement project on hygiene on a medical surgical unit. From this project, I learned about teamwork and implementing change with nurses on a hospital floor. Lastly, I participated in a medical mission to Cuernavaca, Mexico. We assisted the orphanage in first aid classes, physical examinations and tuberculosis screenings. I learned to be culturally competent while also realizing my desire to help the underserved communities.
