About Katie Landeck

I've wanted to be a journalist since I was 7. It has been an unwavering tenant of who I am, tracked through elementary school newspapers, converting my high school paper to AP style, how I picked what college I went to (it had a daily newspaper i.e. where I spent my most time on campus), internships trying out different types of journalism (mostly, radio and print) and then, finally, jobs in newsrooms. Places where I could be endlessly curious, push and push until I arrived at the right answer, the true answer, where I could be a part of breaking news, get to share people's stories. I could do what I love and something that mattered. A little more than a decade in, I still love journalism. I still love those stories I got to tell when I first got into the field. I still write most days. But now, there's more layers to it. I love journalism so I want to be part of the solutions that keep it sustainable while still respecting the ecosystem that requires not just SEO and page views, but good writing, investigative reporting, and complexity. I love journalism so I want to help new reporters find their footing and give them the tools to build their dream careers. I love journalism so I want to help it reach audiences, experiment with how we tell stories, and find ways to be a part of our communities.
