About Katie Long

I am an orthopedic residency-trained physical therapist and board certified orthopedic specialist with a passion for treating people of all ages and functional levels with neuro-musculoskeletal conditions. From sports or work-related injuries to chronic pain, pain associated with the aging process, or injuries associated with poor posture, body mechanics or disuse, I enjoy helping individuals achieve their mobility-related functional goals for meaningful recovery. As a current distance runner and former collegiate athlete, I enjoy treating athletes at all levels, including Boston marathoners, recreational runners, professional and youth athletes and dancers, and weekend warriors. I have developed and presented injury prevention programs for high school female athletes and professional and pre-professional ballet dancers. I have a special interest in treating female athletes, runners and those who wish to become active but are inexperienced. I use a patient-centered, evidence informed approach to guide my practice, combining manual and exercise based techniques to optimize functional outcomes. In addition to my full-time clinical schedule, I currently teach as a part-time instructor for Cleveland State University's Doctor of Physical Therapy program. This instruction includes supervising student research and teaching clinical skills and reasoning while working with professional dancers at Verb Ballets. I am a certified clinical instructor and an active member of the OPTA, the APTA and its orthopedic and performing arts sections, and the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science.
