About Katie McCarthy

Hello! I am a classically-trained cellist with a passion for creating meaningful and accessible arts experiences for all. I currently serve as the Head of Adult Audiences at Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens in Washington, D.C. where I plan and implement a wide range of programs, from evening lecture series, to outdoor dance performances, to jazz and classical music concerts, and more. I am proud to partner and work with wonderful artists and organizations in the D.C. area for our programs. When I'm not working at Hillwood, you can find me teaching my studio of cello students as well as in the section of many orchestras in the area, including the Mid-Atlantic Symphony, the Great Falls Philharmonic, and substitute appearances with the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Alexandria Symphony, and other ensembles in the area. I have a passion for chamber music, and perform both with seasoned professionals and with amateur players. I find both experiences to be enriching and educational for all involved.
