Hello, my name is Katie McCarthy and I am a driven leader who enjoys solving complex issues in a team setting. As a current junior at the Darla Moore Business School, pursuing both a Finance and Marketing majors, I utilize my outgoing personality with my hard work to be an asset to any team- In my first internship, I worked at Hitachi in their Environmental Business Division as their Junior Marketing Coordinator. I spent a large portion of my summer building relationships with Fortune 500 companies to establish how Hitachi's ESG solutions could fit within their goals. I personally started a relationship and closed the process of a multi-million dollar sale, benefitting both Hitachi and one of the largest architecture firms in the world, to reach ESG goals set in previous years. Another focus was building out our SMEs online presence as a way to build the Hitachi brand in the sustainability space, with the biggest success increasing their following by over in 3 months- At school, non-academically, I was elected Treasurer of my sorority. I currently manage funds for over 350 chapter members with a budget of just over So far in this role, I have put my creative problem solving skills to use as well as my interpersonal skills to build relationships with businesses around the Columbia area. Specifically taking point on signing contracts for events, managing spending, and creating the annual budget for the following year- I currently work in the Student Success Center on campus as a tutor for Calculus and Accounting. I have great enthusiasm for helping people succeed and believing in them to do so. Calculus and Accounting are generally make or break classes when first starting business school, and I find that if someone has the courage to believe in students that are struggling, it makes a huge difference in both their confidence and academic success. This attitude directly mirrors how I manage leading a team: empowering those around us to do great things- I have a strong ability to build mutually beneficial relationships to drive success. I start with a customer-first mindset and have the grit and can-do positive attitude to deliver results. I am a serious leader while having fun. I am passionate about meeting new people and look forward to being introduced.
