About Katie Thompson

Well, hi! Glad you've made your way to my profile. I am a registered Speech-Language Pathologist with the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA). I have 10+ years of experience working with children and families, collaborating together to improve: communication, play skills, and interaction styles to encourage language skills and development of social communication. I am passionate about empowering parents and caregivers and building capacity to help them foster the skills needed to support their children with all their communication needs! I truly believe that caregivers are the most important part of the team, and I love watching them begin to feel more comfortable in being able to support their children's development. I also strongly support the neurodiversity movement, and therefore my practice/philosophy is neurodiversity-affirming. However, I recognize that I am forever learning in this field, and this is something I love! I also have a strong interest in working with children and families who are bilingual, and helping to support families who are new to Canada in navigating the (huge, and always-changing) world of early intervention.
