About Katie Wang
I am a social psychologist by training with interests in stigma, health equity, and intervention development. Utilizing a combination of experimental and survey methods, my research examines how stigma undermines mental and behavioral health of marginalized populations, with a specific emphasis on people with mental health conditions and substance use disorders, people with physical disabilities, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. I am the principal investigator of a 5-year NIH grant examining the role of mental illness stigma as a risk factor for substance use among adults with depression and teach a course on stigma and health.
