About Katie Willard

I am a speech-language pathologist with 23+ years of experience working with students of all ages and abilities. For the first half of my career thus far, I was a school-based SLP and then a clinic-based SLP working with elementary through high school-age students. For the past 10 years, I have had a private practice working as a contracted service provider in school, residential, and family settings, as my work-life balance required more portability and flexibility in my schedule. This gave me a wealth of experiences that make me a well-rounded and knowledgeable SLP. I am now at a point in my life where my time, a consistent schedule, and a consistent work setting are my priorities. I am looking for a position that is in one place and truly allows for collaboration.I am confident in my abilities to be an effective SLP for intervention, assessment, consultation, IEP and EST, as well as the supervision of SLPAs or other support personnel. Throughout my career, I have had a specialized interest in neurodiverse learners and collaborative teaming, which has provided extensive knowledge and experience with autism, AAC, executive function, and social communication. With that said, I am fascinated by the language-learning brain in general and have kept current in best practices for all speech and language areas typical of a school-based clinician, including trauma-informed instruction, which I see as an ever-increasing integral part of programming. I truly believe that to be a great SLP, one must be a life-long learner.
