About Katie Willis
I am interested in how biological engineering can be used to improve wellbeing throughout the living world. I have experience in both molecular and theoretical biology, with expertise in computational/mathematical modelling and genomic analysis of populations. I have recently completed a PhD in quantitative modelling in ecology and evolution where my research involved modelling how gene drive technologies can be used to genetically manipulate natural populations, with a focus on malaria transmitting mosquitoes to reduce disease transmission. With this experience in hand, I hope to combine the fields of molecular and population genetics, evolutionary biology, statistics and computational science to develop new technologies with the potential to engineer a better future.
