About Katlyn van Bommel

I am an experienced and empathetic non-profit professional that believes education plays a critical role in creating change. I am extremely passionate about 2SLGBTQ+ and mental health advocacy, and I am focused on creating inclusive spaces in the workplace and inclusive curriculum in schools. I have exceptionally strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills and I thrive in education specialist, program and project management, and workshop facilitation roles. I have over four years of experience working in the field of education as a Teaching Assistant, Workshop Facilitator, and Soccer Coach. As a Teaching Assistant, I successfully mentored 40 students at Brock University to support them with their assignments, conflict resolution, and overall academic success. I worked as an Assistant Facilitator with the non-profit The Literacy Group to guide and support 20 adults to achieve their career goals. I completed my Master of Education at Brock University, expanding my strong knowledge of best practices when building non-profit and 2SLGBTQ+ programs, curriculum, and workshops to create change. I also have over two years of experience working in project management where I completed many projects in high-demand environments with tight timelines. I am an extroverted individual who loves to spend time with friends and family and enjoys meeting and connecting with new people. In my spare time, I love to read, watch Marvel movies, and play soccer.
