About Katrina Basel

I graduated Michigan State University as a Dean's List scholar with my bachelor's in psychology, as well as a minor in gender studies. For almost 4 years I have been an assistant teacher at Building Blocks Preschool and Child Development Center where I help 2.5-5-year-olds with their academic and social skills. From September through December of 2020 I interned at the Traverse Bay Children's Advocacy Center. The center conducts forensic interviews, advocacy support, and mental health services for children who have experienced abuse. I primarily helped with family advocacy, intervention, and data entry. Through MSU, I have also participated in multiple volunteer opportunities, such as Volunteers Around the World. I was allowed to work with health professionals to ensure over 100 patients gained free healthcare screenings in Cusco, Peru. I have recently been accepted to Western Michigan University's Counseling Psychology graduate program, where I will attend on their Grand Rapids Campus. I am seeking a part-time job that will help prepare me for my studies, as well as my future in mental health services.
