About Katrina Hicks

I’m a purpose-led strategist and storyteller working across health, sport, and inclusion. In my current role, I lead fundraising and partnerships at Wishlist, helping bring vital health projects to life across the Sunshine Coast and Gympie region. I also volunteer with the International Federation of CP Football (IFCPF), advising on global strategy and partnerships as the organisation prepares for a future 2032 Paralympic Games bid. Over the past decade, I’ve led communications and campaigns in government, sport, and social impact – including eight years working for former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd AO, beginning with the landmark Kevin07 campaign. From managing FIFA World Cup campaigns to launching the ParaMatildas and building a new fundraising model for the Pararoos, my work at Football Australia taught me how to blend high-performance strategy with heart-led advocacy. My work brings together strategy, creativity, and purpose – with a focus on unlocking funding, shifting systems, and amplifying voices that deserve to be heard. Career highlights include: • Rebuilding public and community-powered support for the Pararoos following the loss of federal funding in 2014. • Leading the launch of the ParaMatildas brand and campaign, celebrating disability inclusion and competitive success on the world stage. • Shaping global disability football strategy and brand transformation through voluntary work with IFCPF. • Managing FIFA and AFC World Cup campaigns as part of Football Australia’s National Teams Unit. • Played a key role in the landmark Kevin07 campaign, later helping establish the Foreign Minister’s Office and delivering executive support and stakeholder communications over an 8-year period. • Driving hospital impact and community engagement through fundraising strategy at Wishlist. I care deeply about work that opens doors, disrupts the status quo, and leaves communities stronger than it found them. I’m always open to connecting with others working at the intersection of purpose, equity, and ambitious systems change.
