About Katrine Pirtskhalava

How did I end up on the Metropolitan Opera House stage dressed as a three-tiered, Neapolitan cake? Great question, long story. Put simply, I take every opportunity I can to support artists in bringing their visions to life. Even as a young dancer, in the midst of cultivating my own creative identity, I found value and fulfillment in observing other artists at work. I made it a point to frequently engage with everyone in my midst—choreographers, costume designers, musicians, photographers— and eagerly rolled up my sleeves every time I sensed they needed a helping hand. In doing so, I got to see the arts industry through their different points of view. The wisdom of their varied perspectives has proven to be an invaluable asset to this day.I spend markedly less time on stage now (with the exception of that cake thing), but I’m still very much the same self-motivated, curiosity-filled supporter of every cog in the creative wheel. I certainly loved performing, but shifting my focus behind the scenes and learning the administrative ropes has helped me find my true home within arts and entertainment. The intersection of business and ballet, marketing and music, data analytics and drama, public relations and poetry…that’s where I live.
