About Katty Wang

I’m driven by one big question: How can we help young people build lives that actually feel like their own? My path started in civil engineering, but I’ve always been equally curious about how people work—what motivates us, how we grow, and what holds us back. That mix led me from engineering into co-founding a tech startup, studying organizational psychology, and now creating programs that help young people design meaningful, self-led careers. At YELL Canada, my responsibility as Director of National Operations is to introduce entrepreneurial mindsets to as many Canadian high school students as we can. The entrepreneurial mindsets benefit not only entrepreneurs but also employees. Introducing these mindsets at a young age will assist high school students to embrace challenges, be decisive, and learn from their mistakes regardless of where they work, and as a result, empower them to take on their future. At Vancouver Startup Week, I lead a team to solicit, screen, and distil the most applicable and relevant information for entrepreneurs in the Vancouver community, so that our attendees can have access to all the resources in one place. Also, don’t forget the fun part - we also want to celebrate Vancouver as a startup hub and showcase all key players in our community to the world! I am grateful I have created this niche for myself to combine engineering and psychology together. I, along with my team, approach all clients’ challenges with logical solutions while creating an engaging and inclusive culture for the team. This way, we can accomplish milestones with a highly engaged team, always in an efficient and timely manner.
