About Katy Clark

Katy has over 20 years global experience in experiential learning, gender equity, international education and sustainable development. She has worked with students, stakeholders and volunteers from around the world to develop critical thinking competencies, international experience, employability and personal development skills through innovative expeditions, volunteer programs and overseas exchange. Prior to moving to New Zealand she travelled the world as a marine biologist. Since then, she has worked as a gender focused Sustainable Livelihoods specialist in the Mekong Delta for the Department of International Development (UK), been the in-house expedition scientist with Raleigh International and Frontier Conservation in Belize and East Africa, founded the Aotearoa Cultural and Volunteer Exchange in New Zealand and managed the outbound student exchange program at the University of Waikato, alongside leading a team of Waikato Sir Edmund Hillary scholars to the Everest region of the Himalayas. She is Executive Director of the Climate Action Network for International Educators and is a graduate of the Climate Reality Project Leadership Corps 2021 training course led by former US Vice President Al Gore. She received her BSc in Ecology from the University of Sheffield, her MSc in Tropical Coastal Management (with distinction) from the University of Newcastle (UK) and is passionate about sustainable development and diversity and inclusion, with a focus on Women in STEM. Based in New Zealand.
