About Katy Howell

Katy is a dynamic public health professional with 8 years’ experience engaging local and international stakeholders in complex problem-solving efforts around maternal and child health, health equity, health care affordability, gender and social inclusion, democracy and governance, civil society strengthening, and pandemic preparedness. In her roles, Katy has drawn on skills in program design and implementation, project management, organizational change strategy, business development and proposal writing, toolkit/resource development, process analysis to improve business operations and performance (American Society for Quality Certified Six Sigma Green Belt), and mixed-methods needs assessments and evaluations (REDCap, Qualtrics, R, SAS, Dedoose, MaxQDA). An adept communicator across diverse settings, Katy has worked closely with local health departments, non-profit organizations, and federal and state agencies (including CDC, CMS, and HRSA), as well as with civil society organizations in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), to support them in meeting the needs of the populations they serve. Across her work, Katy is committed to improving women’s health and health equity and currently leads Deloitte’s international development practice Gender Identity and Social Inclusion opportunity response team. Prior to this, Katy designed Development Transformations’ (now DT Global) gender mainstreaming approach and adapted it for a wide range of sociopolitical contexts across the MENA region. Through her graduate-level research with Georgia’s Home Visiting Program for new mothers and the Center for Reproductive Health Research in the Southeast, Katy worked at the intersection of women’s health and health-related social needs. Her contributions to the 2022 Louisville Health Equity Report further centered her commitment to expanding access to affordable housing and health care for all. Katy holds a MPH degree in Behavioral Sciences and Health Education from Emory University, Rollins School of Public Health and a BA in Anthropology from Macalester College.
