About Katy Tubesing

I am a graduate of the Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Georgia State University, and am also pursuing the Registered Play Therapy credential. I am currently seeing clients at Marietta Counseling for Children and Adults. Previously, I worked as an intern at the Decatur Student Center managing a caseload of regular clients at Fifth Avenue Elementary, Glennwood Elementary and Decatur High School, as well as assisting walk in crisis clients at DHS. In my former career as a teacher, I grew my experience across grades 4-12 in multiple academic subjects, in public, private and homeschool settings. I have worked with children and adults from a diversity of cultural backgrounds in both school and volunteer settings and most recently worked as a tutor and academic coach for high school students. I enjoy working with adults, adolescents and and children. I am self motivated with a strong work ethic and am skilled at organization and creative problem solving, in addition to my care for individual people. My clinical interests include trauma, ADHD and academic concerns, anxiety, social skills and adoption, always with the foundation of a trusting, collaborative relationship. I have experience using child centered play therapy and Adlerian therapy and play therapy and operate from the perspective that what we believe about ourselves, others and the world influences how we think, feel and behave.
