I am one sixth of a think-tank team of Risk Analysts for the Maryland Department of Emergency Management. Using GIS Geographic Information Systems as our "common operating language," we analyze and visualize risks to the state of Maryland. On "blue sky" days, I manage projects, study data for patterns, and collaborate with other state departments or agencies to mitigate risk and build resilience in our communities. On "grey sky" days, the team usually collaborates to produce briefing products for senior leadership and Maryland partners. We also activate in different positions within the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) as needed.
