About Katya Rangadass

As a recent graduate, learning about my skills of perseverance and organization has helped me to further develop strengths in different workplace settings. Working with places like the Human Rights Campaign has allowed me to further develop a passion for advocacy and speaking up for those (such as the LGBTQ community) who are not highlighted equally. Making sure people have access to information and rights that every individual deserves is essential. In working with the Parents for Transgender Equality Council with HRC, it allowed me to find ways to network and communicate with people who provide a bigger platform to inspire others to contribute to the hard work they do. Furthermore, working with Kijiji Yeetu in the past also has also allowed me to find a bigger passion in international relations by finding ways to provide resources for particularly the women and youth in Kenya. I gained more writing and networking skills by promoting social media accounts and providing written resources in order to ultimately build a stronger community network. By working with these organizations, it enhanced my empathetic values and granted me the opportunity to apply it to these jobs. Not only did it increase my passion for advocation but gave me the tools I need to be able to advocate on my own as well.
