About Katya Tambe

I am a consultant ophthalmologist with specialist interest in Adult and paediatric oculoplastics. In August 2021, I was appointed the Clinical Director of Clinical Services of the Ambulatory Care Division of our Trust, following 3 years as Head of Service for Ophthalmology. Within the ICS, I Chair the Ophthalmic Delivery Group for Nottinghamshire and am the Clinical Lead for transformation of Ophthalmology. I joined the Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham as a consultant in 2010. I completed my ophthalmic surgical training from the BJ Medical College, Pune, India and the West Midlands Deanery, Birmingham, UK. Following this I completed two oculoplastics fellowships, the first in Leicester in 2007 and the second at the Moorfields Eye Hospital, London in 2009. I followed this with a paediatric ophthalmology fellowship at the Birmingham Children's Hospital in 2009. In 2011 I spent two months in Toronto and Philadelphia to further enhance my oculoplastic expertise in adult and paediatric oculoplastics. I am keen on expanding the role of Allied Health Professionals within Ophthalmology and Chair the OTP (Ophthalmic Practitioner Training) programme for the North East Midlands. I am honoured to chair the Ophthalmic arm of the League of Friends a charitable organisation in NUH.
