About Kay Dirling

Kay Dirling is the Records Administrator for the Hazardous Materials Waste Management Division at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. She has 18 years of experience in Records and Information Management in both the private and public sector. Her skills include database administration; records request research and response; managing litigation holds and coordinating records production; designing and implementing digitization projects; developing workflows and process improvements; overseeing submission, indexing, and preservation of records; website coordination; managing data migrations; designing training materials and delivering training sessions; and revising and creating retention schedules for HMWMD programs. Kay supervises a team of six in the Records unit, assigning daily workloads, overseeing project assignments, and conducting performance reviews. Kay is an active member of NAGARA, the National Association of Government Archivists and Records Administrators, and serves as the Chair of the Membership Engagement Committee. Kay graduated from the University of Colorado at Denver with a B.A. in Anthropology and from the University of Denver with a Masters of Library and Information Science.
