About Kaye Harrison

I am a highly skilled storyteller who creates engaging long and short video content. I create powerful long form documentaries for television broadcast and for use as educational resources. Working with charities and the not-for-profit sector, I also create short content for fundraising, internal communications and training. My story telling techniques extend to content for marketing and publicity via the various digital platforms and social media. I have very advanced directing, camera operating and editing skills that I apply to a variety of project genres. My observational skills allow me to capture very natural and intimate storytelling with minimal impact on the filming environment. I also create controlled lighting and filming setups where the project draws more on scripted storytelling techniques. My storytelling skills extend to post production where I edit both long and short form video content for television and online platforms. I am very skilled at creating well structured content that is not only accessible and engaging but also informative and thought provoking. Whether I am working with a client or initiating my own documentary project, I am able to implement my highly developed interpersonal communication skills to collaboratively determine the target audience for each project, the desired message and impact for that audience and suggest the most engaging way to go about achieving that, keeping within the time and resource limitations. I consider the process of making video content just as important as the final product and invest significant effort in ensuring all stakeholders are treated with respect and feel some ownership over the final video. My documentaries have been broadcast on television to a national audience, screened in international film festivals and enjoyed a cinema release. But it is the ongoing impact that my work has as an educational resource and facilitating the work of not for profit organisations, that I find the most gratifying. My content is used to by high schools to stimulate thought and discussion in classes such as Society and Culture, by universities to train students studying health and social science courses and by health organisations to educate clinicians and to support carers. My work engages people by connecting with them at a human level whilst also maintaining integrity in how very complex subject matter is conveyed. I am keen to apply my storytelling skills to the important work of not for profits in order to facilitate greater understanding and connection between individuals and communities.
