About Kayla Clark

I recently completed my post-graduate certificate in human resource management at Centennial College, and I am currently working at Camp Riverwood as the Associate Director. Working with people has been my passion since I was 15! My very first job was doing door-to-door sales where communication and interpersonal skills were the root of the job. I then became a swim instructor where I taught children and adults lifesaving skills and watched them grow over the course of a few weeks, getting over their fear of water and watching them feel a sense of accomplishment. This started my interest in training and development, and human resources as a whole. In high school, I had my first law class where we went down to the courthouse and watched different cases, giving us first-hand experience of what the justice system is like. This motivated me to apply to Carleton's Criminology and Criminal Justice program where each year I studied law, sociology, psychology and criminology theories. After my first year, I declared my focus in law. I explored my passion for the law further by taking a variety of classes including criminal law, mediation and the regulation of corporate crime and I joined the Carleton University Women's Legal Network. After completing my Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice, I decided to combine my passion for the law with my passion for working with people, to pursue a human resources career.
