About Kayla Gamez

I started working at Lakes Regional Community Center as an HCS service coordinator in 2014. All of the individuals on my caseload had special needs with a diagnosis of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. As an SC I would monitor their outcomes, services, and supports and ensure they have the resources they need to be as successful as they can in the community. In 2017 I was promoted to Enhanced Community Coordinator. The individuals on my new caseload had come from State Supported Living centers and Nursing Homes in which their medical or behavioral needs are more advanced. The ultimate goal was to ensure they did not get admitted back into those facilities and could stay in the community and be as independent as possible. On October 24th, 2019, I was promoted to Lead Crisis Intervention Specialist. I am on call 24/7 and cover 12 counties. I assist families and individuals with IDD who are in crisis. I am also now in the Masters program at Nova Southeastern University for a Masters of Science in Developmental Disabilities. I am so excited to advance even more in my career and education and provide the best services/supports to families in need!
