Background
About Kayla Leonard
After graduating college I moved to Austin, Texas to volunteer with an organization striving to end the cycle of poverty through education. While volunteering I learned so much from the students, they opened my eyes to the struggles they faced. Each day I wondered if my work as enough when so many barriers were in their way; financial aid, a solid high school education and family support. Their challenges quickly became my own and I wanted so badly to see them succeed. Since then I have held roles in both nonprofits and in education assisting individuals succeed. I currently work in higher education assisting community college students find the right degree path for them. I’m well-versed in relationship building, event planning, curriculum development and database management. I'm hoping to use these skills in the area of college access and retention. If you’re interested in chatting, please send an email my way at kayla.leonard@outlook.com
