About Kayla Queen

While graphic designer may be my profession of choice, the visual and creative aspects are incorporated into my daily life since I realized that’s what I wanted to do in high school. I attended Fort Mill High School where I was introduced to graphic design courses my freshman year. From there I decided to attend digital art and design classes at Nation Ford High School, the other school in town, in order to get a better program along with more experience. This program taught me the basics of design as well as how to handle myself in client relationships and helped me to begin freelancing for people around my home town. After graduation from high school, I decided on attending Clemson University in order to obtain a graphic communications degree. Through my experience I quickly discovered that I am a creative mind, a visual innovator, and a graphic designer. With one semester left at Clemson, I am learning more and more each day about what I would like to pursue as a career upon graduation. The education that I have received as well as the opportunities that I have been given has helped me to get me to where I am today. Without the knowledge that I learned in high school, I would not understand what it is to be a graphic designer. The guidance that I have been shown as an intern has also helped to show me the ropes of how to be a successful person in the graphics industry.In my free time I am always creating art, making decorations, or channeling my creativity. My friends love to come to me with projects they want to do to decorate their apartments or if they are looking for ideas about how to paint a cooler. I strive to be a creative person in everything I do whether that is putting together a research presentation or taking my next Facebook cover photo. While creativity is a part of my career, it is a part of what makes me who I am which is why graphic design seems to be a great fit for me.
