About Kayla Sweeney

I currently work as the Academic Program Facilitator at Jefferson Community and Technical College. In this position, I work with the Dual Credit Department at JCTC by setting up courses, working with enrollment and retention of dual credit students, communicating with dual credit teachers, and more. Before coming to JCTC, I was a passionate educator for over a decade and gained considerable experience in diverse fields. On top of my experience in the middle and high school settings, I also worked as an instructor in higher education teaching courses at The University of Louisville as well as Boyce College. College courses I have taught include English 101 and English 102. Before becoming a full time teacher, I was a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant working in Malaysia, as well as an English tutor and mentor at the Kelly Autism Program in Bowling Green, Kentucky. In addition to my career in the field of education, I also work as an artist and run my own Esty shop, Strength of Joy Art, where I sell prints of all my digital artwork. My other creative pursuit is poetry, and I published my first full collection of poetry, Light in the Mire, in the fall of 2020.
