About Kayla Zeleny

I started working in a very competitive sales position at the age of 15. My first job was with CMI, a company contracted by the Oklahoman Newspaper to get new subscribers. From there I moved onto another sales job as a sales associate at Radio Shack. I quickly moved up into a management position there but unfortunately, Radio Shack went out of business and I was forced to try some new avenues. I got a part time job at a clothing store in the local mall, Body Central. Although I did enjoy the job alot the hours and pay rate just were not enough so I picked up another part time job working overnights as a cashier in a convenience store. Soon I decided that I wanted to go back to school and get my degree but would never have the time between working both jobs. I started delivering pizzas at Papa John's with a friend of mine and it supplemented the ncome from both of my previous jobs and allowed me to attend classes part time as well. After about a year or so of delivering I was promoted into a management position also. The management role was quite demanding and I had a hard time keeping up with my classes so I took a break from school. I worked an extreme amount of hours at Papa John's and I eventually took some time off and went back to school. Living with my family provided me the chance to completely focus on my classes. An unfortunate situation with financial aid made it to where I no longer could attend classes so I got into the serving industry. I have been a cocktail waitress/bartender at several clubs around the city over the last few years. Although I do enjoy working in this industry, I am currently in search of an actual career within a company that has higher opportunities and a chance to move up within the company, something that I can retire from eventually and feel like I've made a difference.
