About Kaylee Yeakel

Trying to make waves in a town of 2,200 people is difficult, but I would not change it for the world. Being from a small town has made me who I am today. The people there raised me, taught me how to work hard, and encouraged me to be myself. Those are traits that I will carry with me for the rest of my personal and professional life. One day, I would like to work for a family-owned company close to home that had similar values to mine. I want to be treated as a person, not like a number. The organization that I work for should be positive and collaborative. I bring value to my organization by being a welcoming person who is great at handling conflict and handling different tasks. I value honesty and commitment more than anything else. I was so lucky to be offered an internship from a company that has the same values that I do. Aikman Wildlife Adventure in Arcola, Illinois was looking for a person to assist them in updating their membership program. I have been able to put my skills to use in all aspects of this internship. I got to utilize my writing skills by creating social media posts attempting to get people interested in purchasing a membership. I wrote letters to current members reminding them of the discounts they have access to. My design skills came in handy when I designed posters for every discount day that we offer to members, created an ID card, and created a logo for the program. Speaking of ID cards, I got to put my problem-solving skills to use. I was able to figure out how to use the ID machine without any prior knowledge. I would not have these skills if it were not for Lake Land College and Eastern Illinois University. I learned so much from my professors at both schools. I appreciated the small class sizes because those allowed me to get to know my classmates and professors on a more personal level. I earned spots on the President’s List at Lake Land and the Dean’s List at Eastern for every semester I was enrolled. I also had the privilege of being elected to the Student Government Association at Lake Land and as treasurer of Eastern’s chapter of PRSSA. With all that said, I would love to connect!
