As the Lead Legal Counsel at Mukuru, I oversee the legal aspects of one of Africa's leading fintech companies, with a mission to create financial inclusion and empowerment for the underserved. I have more than nine years of experience in the legal field, specializing in banking and finance, corporate commercial, and contract law.In my current role, I work closely with the business development, commercial, and finance teams to provide legal advice and support on strategic projects, partnerships, and transactions. I also manage a legal team and ensure compliance with the relevant regulations and policies. Some of the achievements I am proud of include negotiating and drafting multiple agreements with key partners and stakeholders, facilitating the expansion of Mukuru's operations and services across different markets, and implementing best practices and standards for legal risk management.
