About Kazuto Doi

Kazuto Doi is an investment professional with over thirty years of investment experiences in global fixed income and foreign exchange markets with competitive track records. Kazuto joined Prudential in March 2024 and serves as Chief Investment Officer, responsible for overseeing portfolio management for Prudential Holdings of Japan and its all subsidiaries in Japan. Prior to joining Prudential, Kazuto was the Head of Asia-Pacific / Japan Investments at Western Asset Management. After he started his career with Nippon Life in 1989, he acted as Managing Director and the Head of Fixed Income and Asset Allocation at Citigroup Asset Management. He has decades of experience in managing portfolios across a wide range of fixed income assets and currencies. He has also held leadership roles in the Asset Management business in Japan and the United States. In addition, Kazuto serves as an Adjunct Professor at Institute of Science Tokyo (Science Tokyo), formerly known as Tokyo Institute of Technology, and a member of the Fund Management Advisory Board of the Japan Foundation. Kazuto earned a PhD in innovation science from Institute of Science Tokyo (Science Tokyo), an MS in finance from Boston College and a BA in economics from Kyoto University. He holds the Chartered Member of the Security Analysts Association of Japan (CMA) designation. Kazuto has also been interested in dynamics of market behaviors both from academic and practical points of view. In order to understand dynamics of market behaviors, in his PhD works, he has studied how the theory of evolutionary biology has successfully analyzed dynamics among individuals with bounded rationality.
