Background
About Keely Pliska
There are so many great things that can come from the positive relationship development for both the consumers and businesses. I am particularly interested in working with mining operations to develop programs that benefit their employees, their families, and their communities. This all in turn will add to the company ownership and pride that employees have and reduce turnover in the workplace. Can't sit still, enjoy being challenged, and driven to make change. These traits are what has been the motivator for my experience and skills. More of a tomboy at heart, I enjoyed working with my hands and playing in the dirt. Turning this into a career made sense. In 2002, I decided to join a trades school to become a diesel and heavy equipment mechanic. At the end of the program I was one of the first two people to ever graduate with the highest level certification offered by the school. I started my career working for a Case dealership in Anchorage Alaska. This is where I had my first experience working in remote locations. I was given the opportunity to work on the North Slope at Prudhoe Bay. This was an amazing chance to work in a very different environment and with very different people. This first camp (or remote rotational) job was one of the best challenges I have had. It gave me new skill sets and experience and taught me that I really enjoy the type of environment that comes with working in these positions. Working underground in a gold mine was an even bigger change for me. I became acquainted with MSHA and equipment that I had never heard of. There were a lot more repairs to be done that included complete rebuilds of systems and machines. I got familiar with parts look up and ordering, and the software used to track equipment repairs. This time working at the gold mine also gave me a chance to get to know a more personal side to companies and their people. Seeing communication breakdowns resulting in issues that caused disruption caused me to want to learn to help facilitate better communication. This lead to my interest in going back to school as a communications major. I wanted to learn effective tools to organizational and interpersonal communication that would help to facilitate more positive work environments. Through this schooling I have found that I am very passionate about helping organizations develop relationships in the communities in which they do business. Creating the bonds between consumer and company that are more than just supply and demand.
