About Kees Semler

Throughout my time as a student, I have been driven by my intellectual curiosity to find answers to the most pressing questions. Wether it's finding the best song for a certain occasion or indentifying a mathematical solution to improve industrial processes, I've been able to quickly uncover bottlenecks and wastage. I did several projects during my Bachelor Industrial Engineering and Management, including a Lean project in Holland and a waste reduction project in South Africa. Expanding my horizon has led to more experience and knowledge about cultural and economic issues inside and outside companies. After a successful quantitative graduation project at Shell, I obtained my Bachelor of Engineering. A few weeks later, I started to work for 1 year as a process engineer where I applied my lean-knowledge on the work floor. During this time, I realized (just like during my graduation project) that theoretical knowledge can differ from reality and therefore, this period was extremely useful in finding my way in this company.After my first year, I got the opportunity to become a supply chain coordinator. This way, I was able expand my horizon within the company by closely work with the sales and purchase department as well as the production department (which I was already familiar with). In July 2022, I started to work as a job holder, in order to enhance my technical knowledge, based on maintenance processes, and to create a good relationship with the work floor.
