About Keith Criswell

My career has covered over twenty-five years, mostly in the printing industry. However, I have worked in many roles within production and operations. As the print industry has dwindled in the past ten years especially concerning the newspaper printing industry. I have adapted and converted my knowledge and experiences to work within quality assurance testing software and hardware functionalities within a production and operations environment. I feel my managerial knowledge and experience can be adapted to any management environment or career. Adaptation is a quality that I have been able to acquire throughout my career. Each step in my managerial career has involved a need to adapt to the work duties and surroundings to help coach and oversee a department and the bigger picture of operations. Most of my departmental duties were to reach production goals in a very timely manner, mostly all have been in a twenty-four hour turn-around environment. This was always a very stressful environment for all involved. I have been successful in maintaining a working department that reached these goals while also maintaining quality products and meeting the safety standards set by the company. These qualities I developed through not only hard work, but also attention to detail and the desire to bring my best to each day’s work for my employer and my peers. I believe my abilities as a manager can be transferable to any position since I managed and coached a shift of 20 to 30 people and 3 managers. I was responsible for scheduling the staff and creating a productive environment for daily production operation of the daily newspaper and maintaining a cohesive flow of production while building an enjoyable work environment. I received a promotion to a newly created department that produced all classified pages through a new computer application system and oversaw all aspects of implementation of this system, implementing the design and responsibilities of department and hiring and training the new staff. As Pre-Press Manager at JS Printing, I was responsible for producing daily print production including Direct Mail pieces and processing mailing lists to address print while meeting USPS requirements for the finished product. I was also responsible for metering finished pieces while coordinating and categorizing direct mail inventory. I believe this is another example of my ability to adapt to a new challenge and successfully manage any situations that could arise.
