About Keith Duncan

I am a research scientist at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, and director of the X-ray imaging facility. We are developing unique imaging solutions for some of the most inaccessible and complicated aspects of plant and soil biology. We have a North Star Imaging large format high resolution X-ray tomography (XRT) instrument, and a ZEISS Xradia 520 Versa X-ray microscope (XRM). We have a cost center in place and are keen to enter into mutually interesting collaboration projects, where our unique expertise in plant and soil X-ray imaging over multiple scales can help answer questions that previously our colleagues couldn't even ask. Prior to accepting a position with the Danforth Center in August of 2016, I had 25 years’ experience in agricultural cell biology, specifically using advanced microscopy and imaging technologies to study all aspects of agricultural crop improvement, with specific emphases on plant-microbe interactions and localization of insect-active toxins. This position routinely required solution of unique sample preparation challenges in order to maximize the value of our light, fluorescence, laser, electron, and X-ray microscopy instrumentation, in order to view plant cell biology in a biologically relevant manner.
