About Keith Millar

As both a designer and developer, I bring together a strong design foundation and technical know-how to create fun and engaging digital experiences. I strive to “find the fun” in all the work that I do. Over the past 10+ years, I’ve built a diverse skill set working at the intersection where design, development, and user experience meet, everything from indie game development to enterprise-level web services. I originally studied Industrial Design, which led to some pretty cool opportunities even before graduating, like collaborating with Umbra on a product that was released globally and getting my name on a patent while working as a research assistant on an interesting project. In 2015, a friend asked me, “You do art stuff, right?”, to which my response was “Sort of, why?”. It turned out to be an invite to participate in a game jam. During those 48 hours of creating, laughing, and sleeping under a desk, I realized that I could channel everything I loved about designing physical products into the digital realm. Needless to say, this opened up a whole new world of possibilities. In the years since, I founded a game studio (in a shed) with that same friend through which we released a couple of mobile games. We were both absorbed as founding members into another well-funded studio where I got to grow as a designer even more. One thing always bothered me a bit about this whole situation though was that I always had to rely on my talented coworkers and friends to make these things a full reality. I started 2020 by diving headfirst into learning how to become a developer, and have spent the last 4 years leveraging both of these skillsets in my work! Focus on finding the fun in everything and bring it to the surface! Let’s work together.
