Managerial Skills I have had the great opportunity to hold a managerial position in many realms. My first job as a manager was at Georgia Pacific as a Maintenance Planner. In this position, I oversaw Scheduling, and writing of Job Hazard Analysis for the jobs to improve job performance. This position taught me the true definition of being a leader. To become a successful leader, you must be willing to lead by example. It was during my time at South Panola School District (SPSD) where I improved my managerial skills. I managed 27 employees across 6 campuses. Through my experience, I gained a large amount of technical skills needed to accomplish the day-to-day demands of a maintenance managerial position. These skills include, but are not limited to electricity, plumbing, custodial management, scheduling, contracting, and construction. Here at ACI when I walked into this job. They had no type of maintenance PM program in place. I introduce them to Asset Essential (Dude Solutions). I went through the plant and created Asset numbers for all the equipment so I could keep track of downtime as well as cost to that piece of equipment. ACI had no storeroom or supply room, I built new maintenance shop and supply room so I could keep up with inventory to maintain the operations of the plant. My first year at ACI we broke records on the tonnage that we produced by cutting the downtime and man hours worked. I firmly believe in preventive maintenance and scheduled down time verses machine failures due to the lack of PM’s. I also inherited the Safety and Environmental the first week that I hired on. I have since hired a safety coordinator to handle those duties for the company. Through my involvement as President of the Batesville Civitan and board member of the Panola Playhouse, a community theater, I gained great interpersonal skills. During these positions, I organized and ran meetings monthly. I also confronted and resolved problems when they would arise. With my wide range of involvement and leadership positions, I have grown to increase my conceptual skills. I can think creatively and develop innovative ways to achieve the task at hand.
