About Keith Rode

I am a small animal veterinarian in Woodland, CA. I work and am a partner at Woodland Veterinary Hospital, a multi-doctor practice in Woodland. My patients are predominantly dogs and cats, although I see the occasional rabbit, rodent, or reptile. While I am a general practitioner, and the scope of my practice is quite varied, my professional interests include endocrine (hormonal) diseases and surgery. I am a vocal advocate in the legislative process for issues that concern animals and veterinarians; if we as a profession are not helping to shape laws and regulations, someone else will do it for us. To this end, I served for a one month externship during my senior year of veterinary school at the American Veterinary Medical Association's Governmental Relations Division in Washington, DC. I am a member of the Woodland Sunrise Rotary Club, and served as its president for the 2016-17 year. I also serve or have served on the following boards: Woodland Sunrise Rotary Club, Woodland Sunrise Rotary Foundation (past chair), California Veterinary Medical Association (Board of Governors, representing District VI, a four-county area around Sacramento; past president), California Veterinary Medical Foundation (past president), Sacramento Valley Veterinary Medical Association (past president). I have been and continue to be involved on various committees for the California Veterinary Medical Association, including as current co-chair of its Legislative Committee. When I find the time (which hasn't been the case lately), I enjoy writing. I wrote a monthly veterinary column for the Davis Enterprise for a few years, and wrote a weekly column for the California Aggie as an undergraduate student at UC Davis. I also enjoy singing, playing pub trivia, and supporting my kids through their myriad of activities.
