About Keith V. Thomas

Mr. Thomas is an 8th grade science teacher, specializing in constructivist instructional techniques who facilitates student-centered learning experiences in a public education classroom. His students do not merely acquire science knowledge but they become life-long science learners. Mr. Thomas has been a member of the NEA since 1997, an association representative for his NJEA local (5 years), county association member for MCEA (2 years), and the building liaison (grievance committee - 2 years). Mr. Thomas was a consultant for NJ Performance Assessment Alliance and had participated in the project since its inception in 2002 until 2009. He served as a prompt developer, prompt administrator, prompt scorer and scoring session facilitator for science performance assessment prompts (3rd-12th grade). Most recently he served as a lead prompt developer and scoring session facilitator for the 2008 NJ state-wide high school biology performance assessment prompt. He has also worked to develop middle school curriculum with NASA-JPL, Rutgers Institute of Marine Coastal Sciences, Rutgers Graduate School of Education, and the Keystone Institute. Mr. Thomas currently teaches SAT Math/Verbal review for The Princeton Review to prepare middle and high school students to take the SAT exam. He is also a Standard Level Private Tutor with The Princeton Review specializing in the one-on-one instruction of "non-traditional" learning-style students. Specialties: Science education instruction, student science content knowledge and science process assessment, technology integration in the classroom, student cultural expression, performance (music, art, dance, puppetry, and poetry), and SAT test preparation.
