The love of tech has driven my career for 20+ years. I joined Cisco in 1997 where I expanded my tech expertise from LAN/WAN routing to switching as a Systems Engineer (SE) supporting a mix of enterprise, government, and commercial customers. • Evangelized the benefits of e-to-e networking and connected business • Trained partner SE's and customer IT ops When VoIP tech emerged, I moved within Cisco to an "Adv Technology" group to focus voice/data convergence. For 10+yrs I championed "IP telephony" and "Unified Communication" tech as a Consulting Systems Engineer (CSE) then promoted to one of Cisco's first Technical Solution Architects (TSA). In this capacity I: • Architected some of the largest production VoIP systems in the U.S. for fortune 10 companies including a notably large retailer where I designed, tested and deployed a VOIP network that: Standardized and networked locations on a common platform that improved both customer and employee experience, lowered disparate contract, support, and legacy telco costs by millions 6 years ago, Cisco noticed “Cloud computing". Also, Cisco believed that senior architects should understand "Enterprise Architecture" practices and engage to provide value by mapping business outcomes to tech strategy. As a TSA I currently: • Consult with Enterprises on the IT transformation required to compete in the digital age. I assess current IT strategy, including cloud strategy and consumption, and DC management. I work with customer architects to develop a future-state architecture that embraces the critical aspects of transforming from tradition IT to "IT as a Service" For a large software company, I architected a private cloud strategy/solution that: Created a automated private cloud that increased utilization by 40% and increased IT visibility Reduced IT delivery time from 4-6 weeks to 15 minutes, improving development lifecycle by 80% and related operational costs by 40% To engage, contact me at kweaver@cisco.com
