About Keith Williams

I help communities mitigate and adapt to climate change, because I am concerned about its current and future impact on people across the globe. It brings me joy to witness residents’ thrill in rediscovering walking, bicycling, and taking transit as forms of transportation. This shift in perspective invites cascading benefits, including improved mental and physical health, reduced transportation costs, increased access to employment, improved performance at work and school, and more. One of my strengths is the creativity I bring to projects. Often, lateral thinking generates bold, new ideas that can unlock exponential benefits. This creativity is particularly potent when collaborating with many partners, because we feed off each other to produce better and better project results. Planning projects are moving beyond isolated developments or transportation improvements. Projects are becoming the products of cross-sector collaboration, allowing planners to integrate improvements that benefit the economy, the environment, public health, social equity, etc. I work with local communities to inspire transformative projects. Over the last four years, I have led a multidisciplinary planning effort that has secured $40 million to fund safe, comfortable, intuitive walking and biking connections, for people of all ages, abilities, backgrounds, and beliefs, to schools, employment opportunities, daycare, libraries, transit, healthy food, tourist attractions, parks, etc. Once built, these projects will offer whole communities viable alternatives to motor vehicles, creating the potential for real changes in travel behavior, and reducing harmful emissions.
