Currently work as an RN in a busy Oncology Outpatient Infusion Clinic providing outpatient care, treatment and clinical documentation for patients. Manage assessment, medication administration, dressing changes, IV starts/maintenance, care plan creation/implementation and all other aspects of nursing care. Facilitate admissions and transfers to hospital when necessary. Prepare chart notes and documentation while participating on an interdisciplinary team. Skills include: • Follows established policies, procedures, protocols and standards in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care • Follows established policies, procedures, protocols and standards in administration of chemotherapy and biotherapy agents • Observes and assesses client condition and care needs continuously; reports changes in condition to the supervisor and/or physician as appropriate • Applies knowledge, skills, and behaviors in the physical, motor/sensory, cognitive, psychosocial, patient and family education areas based upon PEMC age-specific care competency assessment tool • Takes appropriate nursing action based on assessment and achieves expected outcomes • Provides professional nursing care to assigned patient populations • Obtains and documents pertinent nursing history, physical, emotional, and spiritual assessment to determine basic nursing needs • Reviews, interprets and communicates diagnostic study results as available • Provides and documents patient/family education regarding the disease process, self-care needs and prevention/health maintenance strategies • Accepts responsibility for personal and professional accountability by complying with PRMCE policies, state and federal regulations, accrediting bodies and the Nurse Practice Act • Maintains knowledge of competencies related to the nursing profession by participating in educational programs and continuing education units
