About Kelley Brown

As Head of Learning & Development, I currently facilitate the conversion of human potential into business value.Nine years ago, I joined a startup in the early stages and that has given me the opportunity to wear many hats, solve complex problems, and develop efficient processes spanning multiple business functions including operations, HR, L&D, strategy, security, logistics, and service delivery.In my early years, I worked with some of the most talented people I’ve ever met in the Advanced Weapons and Survivability Directorate at the Air Force Research Laboratory (Phillips). I loved it. Aerospace research opened my eyes to the potential that we have as humans to do some freakishly amazing things when we’re willing to work together towards a common goal. But I chose to step away to take advantage of an invaluable skill building opportunity that ended up being infinitely more difficult, but ultimately more rewarding - raising kids. It was during this time that I developed some of the most valuable and versatile tools in my toolkit: resilience, maturity, empathy, and resourcefulness.In the grand theater of nature, I’m both observer and participant, enchanted by its spectacle and driven to decipher its mysteries. I’ve injected rattlesnakes with microchips, tracked wolverines in the mountains, and once had a walrus accidentally spit in my mouth (if you’re wondering…yeah, it tasted like fish).I believe that conservation and environmental stewardship are meaningless outside of the human context. Our efforts will be the most successful when we stop pointing fingers and start collaborating to develop affordable, innovative solutions that are simultaneously a win for both nature and business.I love to meet new people. Everyone has a story and every story is interesting.I have a keen interest in emerging technologies, particularly applications of AR/VR/XR, generative AI and quantum computing in media, L&D, aviation, security, and defense. These technologies have the potential to significantly transform the way we learn, work, travel, play and protect ourselves and I’m always on the lookout for opportunities where I can learn from the talented people who are pushing the cutting edge even further out.I like to keep my online presence to a minimum because I value security, privacy and the equanimity provided by leading a life that is decoupled from algorithmic puppetry and the pernicious cycle of digital validation.If you’d like to know more about my experience or want to discuss the merits of cheddar cheese, let’s connect!
