About Kelley M.

As a detail-oriented professional with proven qualifications in page layout and design, typesetting, writing, editing, streamlining processes, project management, and marketing research, I consistently provide a “polished package” to employers, freelance clients, and organizations with whom I work or volunteer. I have a wide variety of experience and skills, and what I don't know, I love to learn! Although I've used my layout and design skills to create several types of published materials, I specialize in creating long-text documents, such as trade books and textbooks. I create documents that are not only visually appealing but are also structurally sound, and I am particularly gifted in making products consistent, in paying attention to details, and in giving priority to the technical aspect of laying out text and images. I am an expert InDesign user whose skills include—but are not limited to—the following: consistent use of text and object styles; utilizing typography best practices (hyphenation rules, appropriate line length and leading for the intended audience, selection of fonts, etc.); quickly formatting text using GREP and automation; creating print documents with ebook publication also in mind; and expertly using libraries, presets, text variables, and master pages to significantly reduce production time and chance of human error. And I make it a priority to always meet or beat any deadlines. Even though I have vast experience in layout, I feel especially jazzed when I’m able to combine that skill with a plethora of other skills, particularly in streamlining processes, writing, editing, teaching, and working with others. In addition to using my expertise in professional settings, I’m also passionate about using my gifts, skills, and experience in other venues. I consider it a privilege to volunteer with my church, community, ministries, and non-profit organizations to help others know they are cared for, to help them grow in their respective callings, and to teach women about our place and purpose in God’s eternal Kingdom plan.(See my volunteer experience.)
