About Kelly Lin

I am a collaborative and creative person with a huge passion for art, connectivity and mentoring. I just completed my Masters in Creative Writing through the University of Kent. I’m a BA Law graduate, majoring in English. Language has been my life and I self-published my first book in 2018 and have been published twice by publishing house "Sunday Mornings at the River" in their COVID anthology and their 2023 and 2024 Poetry Diary, as well as a few other publications. I am looking to develop my range of creative skills especially writing and photography. I view this as a way of developing my enjoyment of life as a human, as art and existence coincide and connect. My ultimate dream aside from being an author is to teach seminars and help others with their writing via critique and showing various techniques and starting a publishing house specialising in translation, as I strongly advocate that we have so much to learn from voices that have not had a chance to be heard yet. I aspire to amplify voices that remain marginalised and unheard. Stories of navigating matters like identity are becoming increasingly crucial in a world dominated by social media trends which influences one’s identity due to constant comparison. This is subconsciously shaping the youth of today and I believe that authentic art highlighting these issues is crucial. However, especially as an institution of education, I believe there is a strong onus to encourage students to question the binaries. Students will continue their lives with a healthy scepticism, thus showing that educational institutions leave a global footprint.
